I thought the whole situation was quite amusing, since to me, he's just Uncle Randy. Later I asked him if that happens often, and he said that it's just enough to be enjoyable and not annoying. And of course he feels like he can't brush anyone off, because you know the first time he does it'll be the person who calls the station to tell his boss what a jerk he is...

That reminds me of my Uncle Bill, who had a sporting goods store in Nashville. He sponsored a weekly TV show called "Woods and Waters." It was great for business and he appeared on the show for many years. And yes, he was often asked for autographs. He said it was easy because he had a short name. (Bill Clay)
