One nice thing about BitPass is that it allows other people to give you BitPass "cards." See, the way BitPass works is you prepay for a "card" (though you don't get an actual piece of plastic) the way you would a prepaid phone card. This way your credit card is not being billed for a bunch of little one cent purchases -- since each transaction costs the credit card companies (and more importantly the merchant) a fee, this isn't feasible. For instance, when I signed up at BitPass, I gave them $3, of which I have so far spent $1.75. I still have that $1.25 free to use however I'd like.

The cool thing is that I can buy these cards for other people. So if it came down to somebody not having a credit card, it wouldn't be hard to just mail a check to a friend with one and have that person buy the "card" for you and give you the access information. Pretty smart system, really.
