At the same time, Chat and the Forum are not free to Sam. He pays for the hardware to host them and the bandwidth to deliver them to you. He also spends his time writing the software as well moderating them. These are not activities that are without value.

I believe we're talking about extremely nominal values (BitPass is set up to handle payment amounts down to a penny per transaction), and it hardly seems like that's asking a lot. I should think that most everyone could spare a few cents to use Chat and the Forum.
