Funny thing about Grand Canyon. I used to hear people talking about it and some loved it. Others thought it was just a big hole in the ground.

I had seen it from the air many times; mostly from 30,000 feet flying into Los Angeles, but a couple of times from much lower altitude flying into Las Vegas. But I had never seen it from the ground. So one day, my wife and I planned
a trip to that area. We stated in Pheonix and did a big counterclockwise loop around Arizona and New Mexico, with a stop in El Paso and Juarez. We went through Alamagordo, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Gallup, and then on to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.

It was a big gasp at every overlook and we stopped at every overlook on the South Rim. No two views were alike. Every little change in the angle of the sunlight made it look different. Colors changed constantly. Sometimes the Colorado River was nowhere in sight, and other times it snaked along looking like a tiny, reddish-brown creek.

We still plan to do the North Rim someday and then hit Kings Canyon and some other National Parks to the north. I can't wait.

I hope one day when I do get older I'll be able to go see the Rockies, the Grand Canyon, heck, even Florida. I wanna go out of state for a change, ya know. Oh well, if God wants me to travel, He will make it avaliable to me. Thanks for the info though, Howard, I may have to bring up some of those places if I ever do get a chance to do something.
