The rain finally stopped and we have chopped the weeds out of the garden, and . . . surprise! Vegetables! I have used the lawn mower, weed eater, and tiller to beat back the weeds, not to mention the hoe. We have been eating those big flat Italian green beans, salad stuff, and just a few potatos. There are blueberries, and the tomatoes are only a few weeks away. We have a lot of corn, okra, and purple hull peas planted but they are not very big yet. I also put out some sunflowers and goards just for the fun of it. With all of that wet weather, the compost pile is working great and we are mulching like crazy to keep the moisture in the soil.

People who grow a garden eat better. You can't get stuff like that in a store.
