Packing, unpacking and repacking.

I'm leaving for scout camp tomorrow. I hate packing. Well, actually, I hate re-packing.

At home, it's easy. We're a camping-oriented familly, so all the sleeping bags are in a rubbermaid bin in the basement (The summer bags, anyway) with the camping pillows, and the winter sleeping bags are upstair, on the spare bunk bed, with the therma-rests. I grab a summer bag, a pillow, a mat (Wich I have to roll... Gah.) and I'm good. My tent's in my room, I had to pitch it today to check it.

I have a big duck suit - You know, yellow foul weather gear. I'll take that. Even if it's 35C out, before humidity. It's thunderstorm weather. The suit's in my closet. I think.

My flashlight should be in my closet. It'll be easy to find, it smells like smoke for some reason.

I don't usually bring a swiss knife. I just bought bathing suits. My Tiley hat is on the coat chair. My windcutter is over at my mom... My first aid kit is on my bookshelf, and it's fully stocked. My water bottle is on my desk. The lined pouch for it must be in the basement.

The list goes on. I just have to run around and stick stuff in a big hockey pouch. That's no problem. Of course, picking clothes is annoying, but I can live with that.

It's re-packing to leave that I hate. Your towel's on a clothesline by the kitchen, the windcutter's under a bench somewhere, the bathing suits aren't dry, that pair of pant is full of mud...

THE FRICKING TENT WON'T FIT IN THE BAG!

They never do. Same with the mats.

Luckily, this year, I'm leaving early (Sailling classes! Woohoo!) and I won't have to watch the kids pack. That's... That's just painful.

Some of them carry more stuff than I plan to bring to college next year.
