My brother (who's my hero) just got shipped off. He has one kid already, and another on the way. Today at my restaurant we had a whole busload of soldiers come in. I have never heard so many men my age say, "Thank you ma'am" and "Here you go ma'am" and "Pardon me ma'am". I realize not all military people are that courteous, but it is highly unusual to run into so many true gentlemen at one time. It's easy to protest and be anti-war and anti-military if you're so far separated from anything involving the war, but it really hit home today how much these guys (and gals) need our support. I'm sure a lot of them don't agree with why we're over there, but they're still doing it because they made a promise to come if they were called. They're leaving their families, friends, and churches to go live in a hot, sandy desert. It doesn't matter how against this war someone is. It's been started. Protesting the war now won't do anything. It's time to stand behind our boys and do our job as civilians and support them as best we can. I'm glad so many of you Rinkworks people express the same sentiments. Thank you--for me and my brother.
