MR: Stuck in Level One

I'm stuck in level one. I don't know what else I'm supposed to do. All 6 of my group (2 kniights, one rogue, two sorcerers, and a wizardess) are all at ability level four, my spell casters each have about 9 spells. I've explored almost every last square of the dungeon (I know I have because I've been mapping it), killed all the monsters, and gone past everything there, but I dont know how to get to the sign that says you can't go past without "Proper authorization" What is that?? what do I need to get through that? HELP!
