For the young man who asked about what he can do to provent his information given out, when he is in high school, he can have his parent(s) write the school requesting that his 'directory information' not be given out to military recruiters. The school is then required, by law, to withold that information.

There are many groups around the country proposing 'opt-in' plans, where the information would be witheld unless the parents say they want their child receiving the information. In districts such as San Francisco, not only do they have the 'opt-in' policy, but organizations have worked to mandate informing students about the evils of the military.
