Yes, whenever you get a gold piece, take it to the soothsayer. She should give you something important. Don't bother with the boxes; they aren't there for anything more than confusing you (in this game, at least). After that, you should explore some more in the fortress. The place is huge, and you could hav eeasily missed something in there. Hope this helps
