I found a few pictures for you. The one in the link shows some Samoan officials in suit-fabric lavalavas, which I have never seen here, of course. But I thought it was interesting. I have seen men here wearing the very cool-looking sort made out of pandanus matting. Imagine a great big floor mat woven out of broad, stiff beige-coloured fibres, wrapped around the waist so it comes to about the top of the guy's stomach at the top, and knees at the bottom, all tied together with a big ... thing ... like a Japanese woman's obi only backwards and made of matting. I realise this might be a somewhat difficult mental image, especially when you add a Western shirt, suit jacket and tie on top.
