It all depends on your point of view. I admit that it was a fairly depressing year, but if you look at it from the view point of the over-fifty crowd, any year that you complete still healthy is a good year.

Just as pilots describe any landing that you walk away from as a good landing, I have to say 2002 was a good year. I am slightly lighter and slightly stronger than I was this time last year, and I haven't spent any time in a hospital or looney bin. My extended family is doing well and the roof doesn't leak. Also 2002 completed the 48th year of our marriage, which I think is going to last.

Yes, I would be happier if all of the terrorist were all locked in a building that is scheduled for demolition. It would be nice if the Supreme Court wasn't the laughing stock of the judical system. I wish there was somebody in Congress who wanted to improve the nation's situation more than they wanted to improve their political situation. I'd like to see the drunk drivers staggering on the sidewalk instead of the highway.
I wish the language in movies was a little less offensive, and it would be nice if at least one email out of ten was from someone not out to cheat you out of your money. I'd like to see jails full of people who write computer viruses, and it would be nice to find a few products in stores that are made in the countries where they are sold.

But the thing that makes 2002 a great year was that I found two barn-fresh Cushman motor scooters. What more could I want?
