Sounds like the Three Stooges to me.
Although It's not the gunpowder episode, it
brings to mind the one where they start out as
ice delivery men, get mistaken for chefs, and
end up baking a birthday cake for the guy they
accidentally dropped an ice chest on earlier in
the day...
