I had the same experience as Sam with my wisdom teeth. I went to the dentist, I got my jaw stuck full of local anaesthetic, he pulled them out, I went home and had dinner. It didn't have much more effect on me than getting a filling.

I had never had teeth pulled under anaesthetic before and it was *cool*. You could feel this weird, slow, slightly gritty tearing as he hauled away on the tooth. It was a very unusual sensation. Sort of creepy, but in a cool way. I wish I'd thought to ask for the teeth so I could take them home and look at them, like Sam did. I remember that when each one came out and I saw it go past my eyes in the dentist's pliers or whatever it is they use, I thought "whoa, it's only normal tooth-sized". From the physical sensation of it coming out, and all the effort involved on the dentist's part, it seemed like they should have been at least five times the size.
