Nope, actually the scene in question was intentionally funny. It's a visual joke and it's always cut out of the p/s version because a main character is on one side of the frame and the good part is over on the other.

If I told you what this scene was, you won't find it as amusing because you will be looking for it. It's like knowing the punchline to a joke. The best thing to do is to just rent the widescreen version of the film, relax, and enjoy it.
