I think the music style thing is pretty much a taste issue. I don't mind people playing songs in styles they weren't originally intended for (if I could get my hands on a Big Band band, I'd do a big band version of Eminem's "Without Me"), although it doesn't mean that I personally would listen to them. There's good techno and there's bad techno, and unfortunately the bad is more prolific, but I think that Hindu mantras could quite probably be set to good techno.

So far as listening to music of other religions, I wouldn't worry about it too much. It's just music. Just don't sing along.
