Foreigners duly derive mirth from reading about the peculiarities in the US, so we here should certainly do likewise to them.

No country is exempt from failure to provide adequate privacy protections. In the US, public school students have their data given to the military, as well as to all sorts of credit institutions. Turnabout, naturally, is fair play. New Zealand, too, has failed to take privacy seriously enough: Work on a highway there was recently halted due to the road invading the privacy and natural habitat of a nearby swamp demon. Fortunately, they've been considerate enough to delay the roadwork until the issue is settled.
