Oddly enough, I had already tried running a 'net search covering most search engines, online auction sites and games sellers like funagain.com.
The game is roughly 20 years old, though, and is basically snakes and ladders (but beans climbing a mountain) with forfeits thrown in - so to advance you might find yourself making up a song about cheese, etc.

I did spend most of the afternoon arguing with my friend (who is the one looking for it) about whether the game was just made up by her Dad or not, but she's adamant that it had a shiny box and pieces and all that jazz.
