Rome is better in Springtime. Winter is too cold and rainy, summer is too hot. Spring is the best season to live in Rome.
An interesting sightseeing trip in Central-Southern Italy could be: Rome, Florence, Siena Assisi, Perugia (but this may take at least 2 weeks).
