Of course, I wanted my brother to evaporate so that a) I could play with his toys and b) I could play in peace - all toys being played with by someone else immediately become 400 times more interesting than the most interesting thing in the world ever.

Of course, if they just give you the toy when you ask, then it becomes mundane again. If you have to beat them with a spiked club to obtain said toy, it maintains it's interest for at least, say, 5 minutes.
