They have the most comfortable climate of any place I've been. 2. The people are very friendly. 3. They have breathtaking scenery in all directions. 4. It's OK to be fat in Hawaii. 5. They have a a low rate of high blood pressure and heart attacks, probably due to easy living. (Number 4, above, doesn't seem to take the physical toll on people that we have come to expect in other states.) 6. The food is great. 7. Hawaii reeks with history. Their past reads like a novel. 8. Heavy traffic and urban sprawl are all consentrated in one small area of one island. 9. Public transportation, where available, is reasonably priced. We never rent a car on Oahu. Flights to other islands are frequent and reasonable. 10. No need for air conditioning, heat, winter coats, or long johns. There is almost always a pleasant breeze and rain tends to be a fine mist. (But someplaces have downpours. However a few miles away, the sun is shining.) 11. A volcanic eruption, with lava pouring into the sea, is a show they can't reproduce in New York or Las Vegas. 12. The Hula is both a tradition and a passion. There really is more to it than pretty girls. You hear music everywhere. 13. Every ethnic group and race in the world is represented in Hawaii. It's a great place to learn about other cultures. 14. No snakes. No pollution. 15. Everything that grows blooms. Flowers are everywhere. Howard
