Tamarind is a terrible thing. I think I've not had in in about a million years - I went to school with a few exchange students from Mexico when I was quite young, and they had some tamarind candy - and I still haven't gotten the taste out of my mouth. Also, to make a bad thing even worse, tamarinds are classified by the FDA as being filthy and unfit for human consumption. And if you don't believe me, follow the link and scroll down about halfway.
