Forget about the boat. Overland's the only way.
You're trying to get to the troll bridge with the least possible amount of moves. Make sure you use the platforms to speed things up. There is ONE route you can take with the least possible number of moves, and judging by what you've told me, you're on the right track.
Use the platforms, trample through some vegetables, and approach the troll bridge from the south. You've probably got it as I type this, but hey.
