Thank you, Mr. Pas.

Ladies and gentlemen, humor is a rather subjective subject of study. In this case, "EngrishWorks!", was conceived by DarkNova when said person ran the main page of Rinkworks.com through a translating program, was amused by the output, and decided to share his findings with the rest of Rinkworks.com's readers via the message forum found at Rinkworks.com. Next slide, please.

Thank you. Now here, we follow the first sub-thread when a foreigner concurred with Mr. Nova's findings that yes, the translation of Rinkworks.com's main page was, indeed, funny. That was followed by a thank you reply, a sample of quotes -- which, at the early stages of the message thread was appropriate as these elements illustrated to people who had not clicked on the link provided by Mr. Nova what they would encounter. This should have had the desired effect of having causal readers return to the initial message and follow the link provided. Next slide.

At this point, a sub-thread was attempted, directing the reader to yet another translator application. An interesting way to continue part of the original post -- comparing various online language translators -- however, this sub-thread never did take off. Next.

We enter redundancy with another reply to the original post, where a reader decides to start quoting more of what would be found following the link. As this is simply a repeat of what has occured in the first sub-thread, this is our first indicator that we are starting to see the end of the humor potential from the initial posting. Next slide.

A humor reprieve of sorts is created by yet another foreigner who "turns the tables" on Mr. Nova by translating some of Mr. Nova's original post. This is followed by a post by Mr. Char showing that one could follow the links on the translated page to other translated pages on Rinkworks.com -- something that was not evident in Mr. Nova's intial posting nor in the subsequent posts with examples of translated works. Next slide, please.

Next. Next. Next.

There. As you just saw, the following posts were nothing more than repeats of earlier replies to the thread -- quotes from translated pages that the posters thought were humorous and thought that they must be shared. However, the time between the original post and the last of these posts is nearly two days. This is more than enough time for people to gather samples and decide if they wanted to view humorous translations or not. The latter posts do nothing to further the message thread -- those who wish to read the humorous translations would have done so by now. The ongoing posting of translations merely drags out the joke to a point where it no longer was funny. Estimated time of death for this message thread is approximately 6:00 P.M., PST, October 7th. Can we bring the house lights up, please?

Thank you. I'll go ahead and answer a few questions. Yes? You in the back?

-Spade Phillips
