If it's lying flat on a table, and a pencil is on the very top of it, it's on the top circle. If you move the pencil along the top circle (which, if I recall correctly, is called a parallel), ...
Correct, but just to make it clear to others, it's neither the outer parallel nor the inner parallel. Depending on which way the donut is rotating, it would be either the east parallel or the west parallel, both of which are halfway in between the inner and outer parallels.
When you're on the exterior of the station for the conduit job, you're always on one of these middle parallels. When you're on the east parallel, going in *either* of two directions is going west, and vice versa when you're on the west parallel (similar to how going any direction from the North Pole is going south). This is why, in the game, I couldn't specify the movement directions in terms of west and east, but instead had to give them in terms of which of the outer/inner parallels you would cross to get between the west and east sides of the station.
On the booster job, though, you're always on the outer parallel, where all four of north/south/east/west are defined.
