a few bright spots

I had to look hard for good things that came out of the election. Found a few. How about those two sisters in California who both got elected to Congress? They came from a large Hispanic family. One of them called it the American dream come true. Mama was proud.

And then there was Phil Bredenson. Gosh, I hope I spelled that right. After all, he is going to be the new governor of Tennessee. He used to be the mayor of Nashville, and people there think he is what the state needs. Tennessee has some problems that I think he can fix. Our tax structure is a train wreck, and our education system looks like something assembled by politicians. We have excellent highways, but for how long? You have to maintain pavement. Recently, the state parks and interstate rest areas were closed all over the state to save money. Naturally, it cost more in the long run to shut them down and open them back up again. In the meantime, a lot of tourist headed for the border, and may not be back for a long time. That's what happens when we have a do-nothing administration.

Another good thing is that the Democrats will be forced to do some reorganization.

And I was pleased that the media restrained themselves and didn't make any wild predictions.

We managed to get Lamar Alexander out of the state for a while. If you are looking for him, check the president's pocket. Elizabeth Dole may be in there too.

And Jeb Bush got re-elected in Florida. I felt a little sorry for Jeb and his family when his daughter got busted. But maybe that helped.

No, there wasn't much good in that election, but at least it won't have to go to the Supreme Court.
There is always something to be thankful for.
