But I've always heard that you can eat more if you eat fast because it takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to realize you're full. TOM says that he seems to remember being told that eating fast sort overwhelms(?) your stomach and cuts off your appetite.

The amount of food I can eat if I sit down and eat continuously is usually three to four times the amount I can eat if I have a slow meal with lots of talking or if I get interrupted (by a phone call, for example) partway through a meal. With the interrupted meals, I often go back to find that I can't even finish the portion I was working on, not to mention the extra plate of pasta and two bowls of cereal I would usually follow it up with.

I have also heard this before. And I usually eat more when I'm eating faster. So, famous, you get another point. :-)
