Incidentally, one of the PhD students from our group is getting married today - and at the moment Glasgow is sitting under a thick layer of black cloud with the standard torrential rain so typical of autumn in Scotland. By way of consolation, I phoned up the groom and told him that when he shows his kids the wedding photos, he can tell him they got married in the land of Mordor.
