We didn't have TV when I was growing up either. People used to gape at me in shock when I told them this. It was mostly because when my parents got married they couldn't afford one and then they just never bothered.

Interestingly once we were old enough to know something it was always us kids who fought hardest against getting one.

At this point we have something that looks like a TV in the living-room at home...but it gets half a channel. It's just for watching movies.

I'm currently living in a house with a TV in pretty much every room (except mine) and all of them are always on. Talk about culture shock.
