An associate's degree is received from a two-year college, sometimes called junior college or community college. It then (supposedly) takes two more years at a four-year college/university to get a bachelor's degree. To answer famous' question, I don't believe that would be an option for Gahalia, since she's at a four-year college, and they don't offer associate's degrees.

To throw in my two cents and address Gahalia regarding the whole thread, I agree with Dave and Brunnen-G, and this is why: You said you love biology, and that's your major. If you love it, stick with it, because you'll be miserable if you switch majors at this point and find that you miss biology. If you have any time to take other electives, that's the place to branch out and see what else is out there. Basically, my opinion is that if you like what you're studying, keep going. If you don't like it, *that's* the point where you begin to look at other options.
