Most theme songs these days are pop songs that they plug in as the theme, often songs we already know. While I love CSI's choice of Who songs, there is something about an original song or fairly unknown song being used for a show that then becomes ingrained in your psyche.

Top ten list from British TV shows, in no particular order:

1). Fawlty Towers
2). Countdown
3). Dr Who
4). One Foot In The Grave
5). The Bill (classic version)
6). Maid Marian and her Merry Men
7). Red Dwarf
8). Thunderbirds
9). Mastermind
10). Match of the Day

If we were including themes written by outside artists, then swap Countdown and One Foot In The Grave for the themes to The Royle Family and Monty Python's Flying Circus.
