I'm not sure where these senses come from, but I do have thoughts on your other questions.

I know that I was born with only one of them. Time. I can, like you mentioned about your husband, usually tell you the time within five minutes without looking at a clock.

Direction and distance are two that I struggle with. I suppose distance isn't that important to me since I've never really felt the need to work on it. Direction is totally different. I've always had to work twice as hard as anyone else to understand where I am, and where I'm going. I need maps for just about everything... at least the first 5 or 6 times I go. Even things as simple as "turn right" take more than average time to register in my brain. I can be quite "fun" to ride with when I'm going somewhere for the first time. :)

I think that all three of these senses can be something you're born with, something you work at, or something you just don't mind not having. As for me.. each one fits one out of the list.
