My first thought was that seven and a half years was enough from one battery, but I put the charger on it for a while and it charged right up. If it croaks again tomorrow, I'll have to spring for a new battery. That's life.

My old car had a battery that had been in it from new. It was at least nine years old, when one day I left my sidelights on. I came back an hour later and found that the battery was definitely low but there was still enough to turn it over and start it. I had an hour's drive home so I thought that would give it a decent charge. The next morning, the battery was completely drained. It refused to hold a charge after that, forcing me to rely on a charger for a week until I could get a new one.
