They both just came on suddenly (the one in junior high I had spots in front of my eyes for about an hour before the actual onset, but at the time I didn't know that was a symptom of an oncoming migraine, so the actual headache part was still "without warning" to me.) The one in college was the worse of the two, as I had to walk all the way back across campus with my head feeling like it was going to explode before I could crawl into bed and hide. I also felt like I was going to throw up several times during the night, and although I never did, having to crawl out of bed and down the hall to the communal bathroom was agony.

I've only ever had one migraine, during a screening of the movie "Evita" (punishment from God? You decide). I was curled up in a ball on my seat with my eyes screwed shut because it hurt to look at the screen, and I was afraid to move because I thought I was going to vomit, or pass out, or both if I did. The people around me noticed there was a problem because I was muttering "Why don't you just die and stop singing about it" (or words to that effect) and they had to get an usher to help me out of the cinema. Normally, having to be escorted from a cinema for talking would have been really embarrassing, but I was in such a state I didn't really care.

The staff were very nice to me (seeing as I was chalk white and in obvious pain) and let me sit in an office until I was able to leave under my own power and stagger off home.

For some reason I asked the manager not to call an ambulance for me. I still can't figure out why I did that, because I can remember how bad I felt, and how much that feeling scared me.
