So my dad called me tonight, and in the course of conversation he brought up the resolution of this conflict.

He went over to their house Sunday night, with the intent of just paying the father off and being rid of the problem. When the father came to the door to speak to him, my dad mentioned that he was there to work it out once and for all, because he could not find the cards anywhere. The other father's response?

"Don't worry about it."

My dad was in disbelief. After going home and thinking about it the best he and my mom can come up with (and with which I agree), is that the dad bringing the police into it scared the kids into honesty, and the other kids admitted that my little brother did not have their cards. An interesting turn of events, regardless of why it happened.
