I would imagine they're similar to baseball cards, except they have to do with Harry Potter -- a fictional character, a boy who finds out he's a wizard and then goes off to a wizard's school. There are four books (out of a planned seven) of the series published so far, and the first one has already been made into a hit movie. The next movie is to be released in a month or so.
The books proved to be very popular with kids, and I guess that if there's anything to be merchandised, someone will do it. Hence the cards.
Not sure if I have any advice on the issue, though. I'd want to see if I could get a search done of the accuser's house if I was in the situation, but I don't know if that would go through. But I'd be curious to know if this situation is blatant extortion. Or if the accuser has a legitimate gripe.
Maybe the kid who wanted the cards back already had them and traded them away -- I don't know if there's any way to check up on that?
