my school's been on lockdown for the past three days, which means no eating lunch outside, no walking to class outside, no outdoor sports. Havoc.

One of my grandson's classmates was shot to death, at a party and on a weekend, but there was a serious effect on the whole school. He said his first thought was, "I hope someone doesn't come to school and shoot the rest of us." It's been more than a week now and the school is still unusually quiet. It will take a long time, but they will recover. Sadly, such events are a part of life.
