That strikes me as kinda funny. I grew up with my mothers best friends being called "Aunt Phyllis" and "Aunt Ellie," and their husbands were always "Uncle Jim" and "Uncle Bob." They're not related to me in any way, nor have they ever been, nor could they ever have been. But I've always called them uncles and aunts, whether to other people or not.
