It depends on the circumstance. I don't have a problem with back rubs, because they're great for relieving tension and stuff. I don't even count that as a PDA, but that's my opinion. In my World History class in high school a few years ago, there was a girl who sat in the desk right behind mine. She massaged my back all period ever day. Needless to say, I didn't do so well in that class gradewise, but I never had back or neck pain. :-) This girl and I were friends, but we weren't dating or anything, and I wouldn't even say that was flirting. She was just being nice, and, well, I received it. At any rate, I think back rubs in public are fine. I suppose that would also depend on the intensity of the massage, though. In your example, the girl was lying on the floor. That sounds a little more, um, sensual, than what I've got in mind. It all depends on the way it's carried out.

As far as the kissing goes, that really bugs me. If there's one thing that unnerves me, it's teenagers swapping gum in a public place. I guess I don't like it because I know in a month they'll probably break up and won't want to go near each other. I don't mind little pecks on the cheek or lips, but these crazy 3-minute French kisses are way out of hand. Then again, if the lovebirds were a couple of 75-year-olds, I'd be really happy for them and not care at all. So few marriages these days last that long, and the norm is just a bunch of cranky old people. I like to see senior citizens who are just as much in love now as they were fifty years ago.

So it all depends on the situation. If the place is a college, like you said, I'd imagine that both couples are young whippersnappers getting passionate out of wedlock, and I think that's wrong. Yeah, both would be inappropriate, but probably the kissing moreso than the back rub. College is a place for learning, not making out.

And all this coming from a 17-year-old. What'll they think of next?
