Squish, squish, squish trip report

Date: Sunday, September 29, 2002, at 16:21:10 Went camping at the scooter meet in Georgia. So did the remains of that "hurricane" which wasn't really a hurricane. But it rained. And rained. Then it rained. The squishing of people walking through the wet grass would have drowned out the sound of the scooters, except that none of the scooters were running. Then on Friday, the rain stopped and by Saturday the sky was clear and sunny. After that, a good meet. We never bothered to pitch the tent. I can't stand to put a tent up on a layer of mud. We slept in the scooter trailer. This required me to unload the scooters in the rain and push them into the building. It was a big metal building with plenty of room for about 60 wet scooters and 100 wet people. Also a couple of wet dogs and a ferret. We polished scooters and shot the bull. Actually a lot of fun. Friday evening, a group dragged out their instruments and played and sang. I don't care much for blue grass music, but when you know the people playing, you don't care what they play. Have you ever heard "God Bless America" on an autoharp? It was very nice. |
