Help with portrait- GOA

I can't even get the option to try to take the portrait in GOA. I've been able to get into the kitchen, make a distraction, and get to the banquet hall before the serving girls, but it still won't let me take the picture. I've already talked to the bartender and the baker as much as I can.
My inventory:
19 Bronze Coins
Guard's Sword
Torch
Clear Focus Stone
Magnifying Glass

5 Red Gemstones
Stone of Strengthening
Wire Clippers
Piece of Trash

5 Black Gemstones
Food Rations
Key of Opening
Crate

6 Apples
Tinderbox
Portrait
Map

Is there something I'm missing or that I haven't done?
