The Escorts are super agile, and there's no way you'll get a shot off before at least some of them get their licks in. You will certainly not kill them all with spells in the first couple rounds of combat, which means that lots of them will get lots of chances to paralyze you.

Your best bet is to have 65 AC somehow, so that they can't hit you. I guess you'll just have to be lucky be able to cast that spell before you're paralyzed, but going into the battle with the maximum possible AC will certainly help.

Finding the Items of Wizardry will also help you somewhat. Happy swimming!
