Or worse, you could live in America where there is almost never a train from where you are to where you want to go. If I want to ride the train to Knoxville, 32 miles away, my only choice is to hobo a freight train. Passenger service to and from my town ended two generations ago.

So I could take the bus. No, wait, bus service ended in the 1960's. So it's walk or drive.

The only time we were ever in England, we rode the tube all over London, and then one day we went down to Paddington Station, hopped on a 125 and rocketed off to Cardiff, Wales. In my train-deprived state, I thought it was a wonderful trip
and was sorry it ended so soon.

I guess it all depends on your point of view.
