Early morning drive

Getting up before the crack of dawn isn't something I cherish but my new job requires an hour to get there and I'd like to keep this job. Waking up when it is dark allows me to actually see the sun rise and this has been especially nice these last few days. As I cross the Benicia bridge, I can look out beyond the San Francisco Bay to the flat delta plain coming from Sacramento. This morning, the sun was rising with a few low clouds in front of it that lit up pink. I wanted my camera to record the dawn over water and pastures. As I continued and the sun slowly rose, I watched the blanket of fog blown over the hills to the west. As the wispy fog passed over my head and into the open, the new day's sun ate away the mist before it could cover a new valley.

Fortunately, I don't hit any traffic on the way to work but a morning like today wouldn't have been so bad in bumper to bumper with the scene I was able to see. I look forward to what this drive brings in the future when the sun rises earlier and later than today.
