I'm frustrated that people are kidnapping children in the first place. And I'm frustrated that so many people have so many custody battles that become played out in the news.

As you state, many of these abductions are by parents. If you saw the recent South Park about the media and kidnappings, you saw what might be considered the logical end to how the public perceives it all. I did see stats recently that the number of kidnappings by an unknown person has been going down over the last 5 years or so. They gave different reasons why this was happening but I don't know what the stats are for kidnappings by a familiar person.

For some reason, the media has latched onto this trend and made it seem bigger than it is. They obviously cannot report on them all which is good and bad. As always, it is nearly impossible to be completely unbiased.
