It's sad to relate, but this year our garden is turning into a moonscape. Our total rainfall for this month is less than a quarter of an inch. It's so hot, any moisture that falls is gone the next day. We had a few veggies early and I've been watering a row of tomatoes and peppers so that we still have those, but the corn is a disaster. We didn't plant silver queen or Kentucky Wonders this year, but opted for corn called "peaches and cream" and "trucker's choice." Neither did very well and the P&C has already turned brown. It is about 4 feet high. For beans, we planted white half-runners. Got a few early, then heat and Japanese beetles wiped them out. Several heavy thunderstorms have missed up by about a mile, so gardens nearby are doing a little better than ours. The funny thing is that next spring, we'll do it all again. Note to Knivetsel: This is my serious side. Boring, isn't it. Howard
