FQ - Zombie Help

I'm near the end of the game. I've freed the princess, gotten the lock-pick, and freed the old man. Now, I'm trying to do battle with the zombie. I can't break the lock. When I pick the lock and enter the cell, I get killed. Any hints or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
