I actually just did this during my family's vacation. My brother, Dad, and I took a helicopter ride over the Puu'o'o vent (it's spelled something like that) and saw steam coming out and a bit of lava. It was very fun, but even better was going to see the lava up close. We went to Volcano National Park and drove down to where the active lava is flowing. It was nighttime and absolutely incredible. My brother took the video camera and also got some still digital photos. Going up close to the lava that is about 2000 degrees is amazing. It's something everyone should see sometime during their lives.
