Sorry to trivialise and cut out the far greater part of your post, but this bit caught my eye rather. I REALLY want to do that. It was offered as a charity event at school last year, but I was too young. By a few months. Grrr. Something else I would love to do is paragliding. The glider packs into a 30 kg rucksack and harness, which you strap onto yourself, walk up a mountain, and just float off the top. A good paraglider can keep it up for hours, catching thermals and generally just having fun. During my year out before university, I'm going to take a serious look at my finances and see what I can do about this...
