Sample rate! A sample is a little "click" or "beep" that, when played really fast in sequence with other samples, makes a sound. The sample rate is how often the recording source is sampled and a sample is created. Your sample rates are probably too low. Use a good sound editor (try the free version of Goldwave, but be sure to get the MP3 encoder DLL) to boost the sample rate and write a disc. Be sure you are using the ISO 9660 (aka Data) Level 0 or 1 format to write the disc. There might be a specific sample rate to try, buried deep within the specs of the DVD player. You could also try changing the bitrate, which I don't know much about and have a sneaking suspicion that it's practically the same thing as a sample rate.
